The HealthManager Gold scheme covers you for half of your everyday medical expenses as well as full cover for all accommodation in all our participating hospitals. It also offers a new care manager programme, which gives you advice on your hospital stay, what to expect and the aftercare you'll need.
Please note that if you are taking out health insurance for the first time, while you have immediate cover if you have an accident, waiting periods will need to be served before you can avail of full cover.
If you are transferring from another health insurer and have already served these waiting periods then you will not have to serve them again.

Hospital cover
Members of the HealthManager Gold scheme are covered for a private room in private hospitals including the Blackrock Clinic, the Beacon hospital and Mater Private. To find the hospitals covered by the HealthManager Gold scheme please click here to view the hospital list.
As a member of our HealthManager Gold scheme, you have full hospital cover in all participating hospitals. This includes cover for certain types of major heart surgeries in the Mater Private Hospital, the Blackrock Clinic, the Beacon hospital and the Galway Clinic.
CancerCare Support
All cancer patients who travel for out-patient cancer treatment (i.e. chemotherapy & radiotherapy) are entitled to an accommodation grant. Members can claim up to €100 per night when travelling a minimum of 40 miles to the treatment centre.
Consultant cover
Fees charged by a consultant relating to your hospital stay will be covered in full provided the consultant is fully participating with QUINN-healthcare. Ninety nine percent of consultants participate with us.
HealthManager Gold healthline
The healthline will allow you to talk confidently to a health expert anytime of the day or night. The QUINN-healthcare confidential healthline is run by qualified nurses who have a wide range of clinical experience. We're ready to lend a friendly sympathetic ear to any question or concern you have on a health issue 24 hours a day. The confidential healthline number for members is 1850 923 500.
Care manager
Our care manager programme on HealthManager Gold is here to help you if you need to go to hospital. Our dedicated care manager can advise on your hospital stay, what to expect and the aftercare you'll need. We can answer questions regarding your treatment so that you know as much as possible before your hospital stay.
Out-patient benefits
Out-patient costs refer to medical expenses that you pay yourself on a day-to-day basis, such as GP fees, visits to consultants or fees for physiotherapy.
We will pay half the following charges you incur on your HealthManager Gold policy up to a maximum payment of €7,650 each year.
- Consultant radiologist fees
- Pathologist fees - 50% of the charges or €20 whichever is higher
- Radiology and pathology charges
- Hospital casualty charges
- Physiotherapy up to a maximum of 25 visits per year
- General practitioner fees
- Certain medical and surgical appliances: up to the amount shown on the QUINN-healthcare approved list (please ask for details)
- Approved complementary therapies - accupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic and osteopathy up to a max of 12 visits per practitioner
- Reflexology - up to eight visits
- Orthoptic cover - up to eight visits
- Certain medical and surgical appliances: up to the amount shown on the QUINN-healthcare approved list (please ask for details)
- Consultant fees (excluding maternity)
- Women's cancer screening (at approved centres)
- Blood tests for the purpose of prostate cancer screening (at approved centres)
- Emergency dental treatment for and immediately following an accidental external impact: up to €510 for restorative treatment
- The cost of one non-emergency dental treatment each year, up to a maximum of €25
- The cost of one optical test each year, up to a maximum of €20
- The cost of speech and language therapy (on GP or consultant referral), up to a maximum of eight visits per year
- The cost of one assessment of a speech impediment: Up to a maximum of €77
- The cost of child counselling by an approved therapist, up to a maximum of eight visits per year, plus one assessment, if billed, up to a maximum of €77
- The cost of physical therapy by an approved therapist, up to a maximum of eight visits per year
- Visits to an occupational therapist, a dietician & a chiropodist up to a maximum of five visits to each therapist per year plus one assessment, if billed, up to a maximum of €60
- The cost of child home nursing care following five consecutive days in-patient treatment up to a maximum of €2,800 each year (on consultant referral)
- The cost of home nursing (on consultant referral) following in-patient treatment for a person aged 18 years or over, up to a maximum of €1,400 per year
- QUINN-healthcare executive health check at a QUINN-healthcare approved centre every two years
- QUINN-healthcare sports health screen at a QUINN-healthcare approved centre every two years.

We will also pay in full
- Up to €750 towards routine out-patient maternity consultations per pregnancy
- The full cost of breast prosthesis (following in-patient treatment)
- Mammograms for breast cancer screening at the following QUINN-healthcare approved centres, Beaumont Private Clinic, South Terrace Medi-Centre, Cork, Blackrock Clinic, Bon Secours, Galway, Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick
- DEXA Scans for osteoporosis screening at the following QUINN-healthcare approved centres, Galway Clinic, Charter Medical, Dublin 7, Barrington’s Hospital,Limerick, Bon Secours, Cork, Bon Secours, Dublin, Dr. Darragh Foley Nolan, Waterford
- The full cost of PET scans carried out on an out-patient basis in the Beacon Hospital and The Mater Private Hospital;
- The full cost of CT scans carried out on an out-patient basis at Beaumont Private Clinic, Barringtons Hospital and The Charter Medical Diagnostic centre;
- The full cost of colon cancer screening in five centres; The Mater Private, Advanced Radiology (Rockfield, Dundrum), Barrington's in Limerick, The Mercy University Hospital in Cork and The Galway Clinic
- The full cost of one hairpiece per year (following cancer treatment)
- Manual lymph drainage for cancer patients. This advanced therapy improves the quality of life for many cancer sufferers. Members are entitled to claim up to €500 for this treatment
- MRI scans carried out at certain QUINN-healthcare approved centres; Charlemont Clinic (Dublin), Charter Medical (Dublin), Advanced Radiology (Rockfield, Dundrum), Auteven Hospital (Kilkenny), MRI Centre (Bon Secours, Galway), MRI Ireland (Sligo General Hospital), MRI Centre Cork (Mercy University Hospital), Barrington's MRI Centre Limerick
- Consultants' fees for up to one pre and one post operative consultation: Up to €65 per consultation.
And if your total treatment costs covered under this heading exceed €630 in your membership year, we will pay 75% of any further charges that are covered under this benefit that you incur during the same year.
Maternity cover
The HealthManager Gold scheme offers our most comprehensive maternity cover.
For a normal delivery you are entitled to three nights in private or semi-private hospital accommodation up to a maximum of €3,500 (effective 01/10/06) . We will also pay consultant's fees for a normal delivery up to €869.81 (including epidural). Consultants must be participating in our full cover scheme. For a mix of hospital accommodation and home nursing (incurred within three months after your delivery) we will pay the cost of one night's accommodation in hospital plus home nursing up to €1,500 or the cost of two nights in hospital plus home nursing up to €750. The maximum benefit for hospital and home nursing combined is €3,500 (effective 01/10/06).
If you decide to have your baby at home, we will pay a grant of up to €3,500 (effective 01/10/06).
Pre and Post Natal Package
HealthManager Gold's comprehensive maternity package includes cover for a special range of pre and post natal benefits. We will pay HealthManager Gold members up to €750 for charges for the following treatments provided that they are incurred within two months before and three months after the birth of a child:
- Baby massage classes - up to €100 towards the cost of these classes when carried out by members of the International Association of Infant Massage
- GP fees
- Fees for approved complementary therapies - acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, osteopathy and reflexology (up to eight visits for reflexology)
- The cost of one dental examination
- The cost of one optical test carried out by a practitioner with the qualification F.A.O.I.
- Charges for physiotherapy by a participating therapist
- Charges for chiropody by a participating therapist
- Nutritionist services provided by a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute
- Counselling by a participating therapist for post natal depression
- Midwifery services provided by a qualified midwife
- Up to €39 for a maternity bra
Convalescence
If your consultant tells you, you need a stay in a state-registered nursing home after a stay in hospital, we will pay €150 per day towards the costs up to 14 days.
EU cover
If you require treatment that is certified by our medical adviser as unavailable in Ireland, we will provide cover if we arrange treatment in one of our participating hospitals in the EU.
Overseas cover
Members of the HealthManager Gold scheme are entitled to emergency overseas cover. If you have an accident and need inpatient treatment while abroad you will be covered for emergency local treatment up the value of €65,000 per episode. Repatriation to Ireland or the nearest medically appropriate country is also covered if treatment is not available in the country that you are travelling in.
QUINN-healthcare members receive an emergency overseas 24-hour assistance number. This number must be contacted prior to any emergency treatment.
This overseas cover provides a certain level of cover for emergency treatment that may be required while overseas temporarily and therefore is not a substitute for travel insurance.
Also, as an Irish resident you are entitled to get healthcare through the public system in countries of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland if you become ill or injured while on a temporary stay there.
Until now, you needed an E form - such as the E111 or the E128 - to get such treatment. Now, these paper forms are being replaced by the European Health Insurance Card. One Card is needed for each individual or member of the family.
